Résumé : | Tactical military aircraft engine noise continues to have negative impacts on military personnel as well as communities in the vicinity of military facilities. This report explores recent developments in noise reduction technologies using experimental, computational and numerical methods. The various chapters investigate regulations throughout NATO countries that are applicable to military aircraft engine noise, as well as numerous technologies with potential reduction of the undesirable sound. In particular, the report outlines the human health effects of gas turbine powered air vehicle noise and recent technologies on how to prevent or reduce it. The report covers regulations and models for community noise and sound propagation, physical and psychological effects of noise on humans, noise measurement techniques, analysis and prediction of high speed jet noise, noise reduction, and provides recommendations on future research directions |
