Résumé : | As part of the ongoing Sensor and Electronics Technology (SET) Panel activities exploring present status and future developments of sensors, sensor-combinations and their application to military NATO requirements, all interested nations were invited to present and discuss the prediction and detection of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). An overview of most classes of the needs and requirements were presented with emphasis on visible and infrared sensors that incorporated situational awareness technologies for ‘smarter’ recognition. In terms of important sensor categories, EO/IR, Laser and Laser Radar, RF-Radar, acoustic sensors and sensor combinations were also presented. Relevant and detailed technical information is can be found in the meeting notes from the panel session as well in the individual authors´ publication. Overall, this meeting provided a baseline for future NATO collaborations and the possibility for common developments and combined field tests. |
