Résumé : |
Voted one of the best war memoirs about Iraq, against the background of Falluja, where fighting IS raging
David Bellavia, one of the greatest heroes of the Iraq-war, tells on raw way how he his third section by a deadly war city leads. Falluja is full of hazards: everywhere booby traps, roadside bombs, Al-Qaeda members and houses full of explosives. Violent events driving the soldiers sometimes to the extreme. Not everyone is strong enough to leave the city alive, but Baby does everything for his soldiers and know to give them the courage to again and again to fight against the enemy. Door to door is an impressive story full of action and suspense, in which Bellevia shows how far his soldiers have to go to Fallujah safe. Review (s) Staff Sergeant David Bellavia makes in 2004 part of Task Force 2-2: the second battalion of the 2nd infantry regiment, part of the third brigade of the 1st U.s. Infantry Division. His unit is deployed in the heavy fighting around the city of Fallujah in Iraq. In ' door to door ' he does with the help of writer John Bruning report from his personal war experiences as an ordinary infantryman. His story is raw, honest and gripping. The fight in urbanised area, sometimes literally by man against man, demands on both sides many victims. Its realistic descriptions of the combat actions make it clear that war is always hell on Earth. The book includes a number of original black and white photos. For his performance in Iraq was awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal David Ballavia and a Silver Star. By John Bruning published fifteen books, including eight war books. An American war book in the style of Chris Kyle's ' Sniper '. E. Westerhuis |
