The BUDef website is an information tool.
The information on this site is of a general nature. They are not necessarily adapted to all personal or specific situations.
The library puts all the necessary means to ensure that the information on its site is accurate and updated as regularly as possible.
However, the library cannot be held responsible in the event that, despite everything, erroneous information or inaccuracies remain.
The library cannot be held responsible for transmission interruptions or other technical problems affecting the Internet network.
Neither can it be held liable for any damage, direct or indirect, whatever its nature, which may result from the use of this site (example: viruses, damaged files, loss of programs or other data, etc.) .
The BUDef website may contain links to other websites. However, BUDef only has control over sites in its domain budef.mil.be. However, it undertakes to remove as soon as possible any hypertext link to a site of which it learns that the content is illegal.

Intellectual property
All elements of this site are the property of BUDef, which is also the holder of copyright, neighboring rights and database rights, as assignee or producer (of audiovisual works, audio works and databases) on these.
By elements of the site, we mean in particular photographs, articles and other texts, drawings, logos, soundtracks, films, videos and other animations, the layout, etc.
BUDef submits to its express written authorization any reproduction, communication or modification of one or more elements of the site on any type of medium by any user, with the exception of reproductions made either for the purposes of private consultation or for the purpose of teaching or research.
BUDef recognizes the full application of the legal exceptions defined in the Code of Economic Law. Within the framework of these exceptions, the users must however mention the origin of the elements which they reproduce (namely, the address of the site "https://budef.mil.be", the name BUDef, the name of the (author if it is mentioned on the site, the possible title of the reproduced element) and must respect the moral rights of the author or authors concerned, which the BUDef intends to enforce.
To the exclusion of any recourse to deep linking, "framing" and "inlining" techniques, the BUDef authorizes the user of the site to create a simple hypertext link to this site on the condition that the external site referencing this site does not contain any defamatory remarks or other illegal content.

Protection of personal data by BUDef
Specific information notices detailing the processing of their personal data by BUDef are available for:
Students as well as enrolling students
The members of the personnel - are also concerned by this notice the people having only an institutional or particular mandate at the ERM (Royal Military Academy), the members of the personnel of the entities linked to the ERM, the external teachers coming from establishments of '' teaching collaborating with the ERM as well as the people to whom access must be given for reasons specific to the functioning of the BUDef
Users of Archives and Libraries
Personal data is only collected on the site as part of the proper management of the latter and to respond to user requests. The data collected is never transferred to third parties.
Confidentiality
Personal data processed by BUDef are only accessible to authorized members of its staff to the extent necessary for the performance of their mission.
They are required to respect the confidentiality of all of this personal data. This implies in their head:
the obligation not to access or seek to access data that is not strictly necessary for the performance of their mission;
the ban on disclosing data of which they are aware other than what is necessary for the performance of their duties.
The same obligations are imposed, where applicable, on employees of third-party companies who have access to this data under a subcontract.
Security
BUDef takes the appropriate measures to protect your personal data against any unauthorized or unlawful processing and against any loss, destruction or damage of accidental origin, taking into account the risks involved by the processing as well as by the nature Datas.
In the event of a security incident involving a loss of personal data or confidentiality, the BUDef will notify the Data Protection Authority in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
Cookies policy
In accordance with article 129 of the Law of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications, the BUDef informs you that it uses cookies as part of your connection and your browsing on its institutional site in order to ensure optimal functioning. and for internal analytical purposes.
Some cookies allow an optimal graphic display, others allow an internet application to correctly manage connected work sessions.
The cookies used on BUDef's institutional sites do not contain data allowing a personal identification of the user and are used for the sole purpose of collecting information relating to the use of the site.
Rights and contacts
Upon proof of your identity, you can, free of charge, request to exercise the following rights:
obtain a copy of the personal data concerning you being processed by BUDef and, where applicable, any available information on their purpose, origin and destination;
obtain the rectification of any inaccurate personal data concerning you as well as obtain that incomplete data is completed;
obtain, subject to the conditions provided for by regulations, the erasure of personal data concerning you;
obtain, subject to the conditions provided for by the regulations, the limitation of the processing of personal data concerning you;
obtain the portability of the personal data concerning you provided to BUDef, i.e. to receive the data in a commonly used structured format, provided that the processing is based on consent or on a contract and that 'it is carried out using automated processes;
oppose, subject to the conditions provided for by the regulations, for reasons relating to your particular situation, the processing of personal data concerning you;
file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority - contact (at) apd-gba.be
The conditions for exercising the rights mentioned in points c, d and f are detailed in the appendix below.
These rights can be exercised by sending an email or a signed and dated letter to the Data Protection Officer of BUDef. In accordance with the law, a response will be provided within 30 days of submitting the request.

Annex: rights subject to conditions
Right to erasure (Article 17 of the GDPR)
The right to erasure of personal data can be exercised by a person:
if these data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected;
if the data subject withdraws the consent on which the processing is based and there is no other legal basis for the processing;
if the data subject objects to the processing and there are no compelling legitimate grounds for the processing or if the data subject objects to processing for marketing purposes;
whether the personal data have been the subject of unlawful processing;
if the personal data must be erased in order to comply with a legal obligation provided for by Union law or by Belgian law;
whether the personal data has been collected as part of the information society service offering.
Right of limitation (Article 18 of the GDPR)
The right to limit the processing of their personal data can be exercised by a person:
if the data subject disputes the accuracy, for the period allowing the controller to verify the accuracy of the personal data;
if the processing is unlawful and the data subject opposes the erasure of the data and requests the restriction of their use instead;
if the library no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of processing but they are still necessary for the data subject for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims;
if the data subject has objected to the processing, while verifying whether the legitimate reasons pursued by the controller outweigh those of the data subject.
Right of objection (Article 21 of the GDPR)
The right of opposition may be exercised by the data subject for reasons relating to his particular situation, relating to the processing of his personal data based on consent or legitimate interest, unless the library demonstrates that it there are legitimate and compelling reasons for the processing which prevail over the interests and rights and freedoms of the data subject, or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
